The Arbor Viridis
Experience

At Arbor Viridis (Latin for “Green Tree”), our work reflects our way of life. Founded by Board Certified Master Arborist Brandon Ranger, our company is rooted in a deep, lifelong connection to nature—a passion he shares with his wife, Klara, and is passing down to their son, Tarron, and their loyal Border Collie, Loki.

Brandon and Klara both grew up in Northern Ontario, where wild forests and rugged landscapes shaped their respect for trees and the ecosystems they sustain. Brandon began his career at Hydro One, completing a 6,000-hour apprenticeship and earning his Journeyman Utility Arborist status. Yet days spent skinning, topping, and herbiciding trees under utility lines made it clear this wasn’t his long-term path. Wanting to protect trees rather than simply clear them, Brandon and Klara moved to British Columbia, where they built a successful, preservation-first tree care business.

During this time, Brandon also furthered his formal education, earning a Horticulture Diploma from the University of Guelph, strengthening his scientific understanding of plant health and landscape systems. When their son, Tarron, was born, they felt called back to their roots. They chose to “transplant” home to Ontario so he could grow up close to family—and so they could continue their mission of caring for trees in the communities that shaped them.

From day one, Brandon’s philosophy has been simple: preservation over profit. While some companies may be quick to recommend removals, we look for every opportunity to save and restore trees through expert remediation and ethical, long-term care. We believe every tree is a vital part of a larger ecosystem—one we are all responsible for protecting and passing on to the next generation.

Why Choose Arbor Viridis

As a Board Certified Master Arborist (BCMA)—the highest credential in our industry—Brandon brings a level of scientific expertise that goes far beyond basic maintenance. This designation reflects years of hands-on experience and a rigorous examination in all aspects of arboriculture, from soil science and plant health care to complex risk assessment and urban forest management.

At Arbor Viridis, we combine this deep technical knowledge with a genuine respect for the living systems we care for. Our vision is to lead in urban forest management, offering personalized residential service alongside sophisticated, data-driven consulting. Whether we’re caring for a single backyard maple or a large-scale urban canopy, we treat every tree as an investment in a healthier, greener future.

Top-tier expertise – Your trees are cared for by a Board Certified Master Arborist (fewer than 2% of certified arborists worldwide). Brandon is the only BMCA in Northern Ontario

Science-Based, Ethical Tree Care: Every recommendation we make is grounded in current research and guided by a strict code of ethics. We balance the health of your trees, the safety of your property, and the long-term resilience of the urban forest.

Vision for a Healthier Urban Forest: We go beyond one-off pruning jobs. Our goal is to help homeowners, communities, and organizations manage their trees as part of a larger, living system. From personalized residential care to data-driven consulting, we’re here to grow a safer, healthier, greener urban forest—one tree at a time.

Ethics & Excellence: BCMA status requires a commitment to a strict code of ethics and extensive continuing education.

Family-run, future-focused – A Northern Ontario family business treating every tree as part of the legacy we leave for the next generation.
